The Midwest Office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation is located in downtown Chicago with a field office in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, serving the small communities of that state.  With help from our statewide and local partner organizations, we serve communities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin.  We support preservation in the region by providing information, guidance, organizational development, advocacy and financial assistance to communities and individuals.

The Midwest is home to a host of incredible historic, architectural and landscape resources, from Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House in Plano, Illinois, to the Over-the-Rhine district in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri.  Resources such as these are being threatened by demolition and new development.  Improper maintenance is often the biggest danger facing a resource. The Midwest Office works to help save historic resources by educating community members and political officials about preservation.  We regularly hold informational workshops for homeowners and concerned citizens, and we provide grant and advocacy assistance to local organizations and property owners.
